Katherine contacted me for a very special request to get a few very simple portraits of her daughter that she wanted printed in black-and-white. I love working with teenagers because most of the times they appreciate being photographed and can have fun with it. So during this session we not only get the timeless portraits of these beautiful young ladies, but also some sister moments that I am sure they and their mom will appreciate having decades later. I hope your enjoy seeing these lovely summer moments of the beach and make me slightly nostalgic even though I don’t even have teenage daughters! And the last image makes me teary for some reason every time I look at it! The photo that I caught first of the mom and younger daughter holding hands is out of focus and slightly blurry… the moment later the next shot is in focus and they are already let go of each other hands….and while the older daughter isn’t holding mom’s hand in both of the photos. This makes me think and feel that as our children are growing up, the life feels like a blur and we don’t feel the moment of them holding and needing our hand, and by the time we see clearly how much they need us, they don’t need us anymore and they have already let go…. I want to be intentional mother as much as this busy life allows and time to have a tac sharp vision of what is happening around me, what my children need from me and how I need to appreciate the time when they want to hold unto me.
