I can’t tell you all the emotions I felt when Kelly called me about her wedding and asked me if I would be interested in photographing her wedding. And there were a few reasons why I would be so excited! First, I photographed Kelly’s sister’s wedding only last year. So if she was ready to hire me for her wedding, it meant that they were super happy with the previous experience and were ready to go through this again! So repeat clients for me is the highest form of compliment! Second, I loved working with Kelly’s family before and I was so super excited to be there for them again. And third, the wedding would take place at a Farmers Market pavilion. How cool is that?! Of course, I wanted to be a part of it. So after a little bit of planning and arranging for some travel, your servant South Jersey wedding photographer packed her bags and headed up North! Ithaca, NY was the location of the wedding. And I wasn’t the only one who had to travel. Kelly and Ben are from Washington DC, so they drove up there too. Well, and all there guests and family from 20 states of US flew and drove in as well :). So after some travel time we all were ready get the party started. And let me tell you! Not only the party was amazing but the whole day couldn’t have gone more perfectly! The weather was slightly cool and helped us calm our nerves down. The sun was happy and bright which only gave us more energy for the day. The Ithaca Farmers Market was just an amazing place to work at!!! The mood, the decorations, the view – everything was pretty much breathtaking. I was think of similar venues in New Jersey and Philadelphia area and I thought that Perona Farms wedding, Barn on Bridge wedding, Brandywine Manor House wedding, Jack’s Barn wedding and even Appel Farm wedding would have very similar photographic results.
Bride Getting Ready Photos
Well, the day has started at the rental house in Ithaca with Kelly’s family. We then headed out to the hair salon Julie a Stone where Kelly and Megan got their gorgeous wedding up-dos. And then we were all ready for Kelly to get into her dress from anthropologie and go see Ben!!!! Exciting!
Kelly’s mom was the one who came up with the welcome gifts for all the arriving guests. It was truly a treat to receive one as well. Delicious chips, crackers and raisin cookies gave me necessary energy to keep going all day long!
Kelly’s dress so so simple and so elegant at the same time. High waist, with beaded belt and some simple ruffles on her chest, made it look so-so classy! And her golden shoes complimented the look so well. Ithaca is famous for it’s local wine that why I thought it would be super appropriate to incorporate grape vine for the wedding details photos. A few nice large grape vines were growing all around the house where Kelly’s family was staying. Kelly hair turned out to be stunning! And when she got home everyone was impressed so even more gorgeous she now was. Kelly’s mom and dad were so touched to see their daughter in the wedding dress! Just like any parent it was probably a proud, happy and a sad moment at the same time! Kelly’s gorgeous bouquet created by Plenty of Posies was given a small gift. Kelly’s grandmother’s wedding handkerchief was wrapped all around stems. Such a great piece of legacy and respect to their family. And here she was – gorgeous, elegant and stunning bride! And here is a snap shot of Kelly holding a paper with her wedding vow – such an important and emotional piece of the day. This moment was so precious to me when I saw Kelly in the bathroom and grandma getting ready just across the wall in her room – both visible through their separate doors. And here Kelly was all ready to come and see ben!!!
Groom Getting Ready Photos
In a mean time, Ben was getting ready to see Kelly as well. His dad helped him out with the tie and made sure he looked as sharp as he could be! Then a little bit of a dancing practice happened with his mom. They definitely wanted for the mother-son dance to be perfect tonight. And then he was all ready to see Kelly as well!
First Look at Ithaca Farmers Market
Both of the arrived at the Market and were super excited. Kelly was slightly nervous but it made the moment even more beautiful than it normally is. The tears started running and her dad came to rescue. A gentle hand that has always wiped her tears has done it one more time in such an important moment. And here is the moment of the reveal! Happy, excited and relieved! Both of them gorgeous and ready to tie the knot!
Wedding Portraits at Ithaca Farmers Market
Now it was the time so some wedding portraits for these gorgeous bride and groom! The market was such a wonderful place for it. There were so many cute options for the photos that we definitely enjoyed our time together. The river was such a pretty backdrop for the photos. Then we went inside the actual market pavilion and had some fun shots there as well.
Wedding Ceremony at Ithaca Farmers Market
And not it was time for the wedding ceremony. Everyone was stunned by the beautiful of this couple and by the beautiful words that were said during the ceremony. The backdrop of the early sunset and the river in the background was magical. Everyone truly enjoyed those wedding ceremony moments. And look at this lovely family!!! I normally don’t post family formal photos but I couldn’t resist here – they are too dear to my heart!
Wedding Reception at Ithaca Farmers Market
And not it was time for wedding celebrations!!! Gorgeous rustic barn wedding decor definitely had me attracted. Simple yet so beautiful! We had a few more minutes for an extra set of sunset photos for Kelly and Ben near the water. They were very brave to be so close to the water and the results don’t disappoint! Some of-camera-flash and some natural light gives us a good variety for their wedding photo gallery. Ben brother was playing a guitar during the cocktail hour which gave the wedding such a personalised feel! Ithaca Farmers Market is definitely a stunning location for the wedding and with a little bit of off-camera-flash is becomes even better :). And here is the fun! The toasts! The dances! The cake! All the important things during the wedding reception. I can tell you it was a success!!!! The street lights in the Farmers Market created such a festive atmosphere. The rose and burgundy color scheme of the wedding made it look rich and warm and welcoming! So perfect for a fall wedding! And the first dance went perfect under the dome of farmers market, white wedding pom-poms, Chinese lanterns and street lights.
The party was FUN!!!! The food was delicious! And the most important part is that when sparklers exit happened, Kelly and Ben were husband and wife!!!!
Congrats you guys and God bless you!
